About Me!
Artist Bio
Courtland was born and raised in Houston TX. He found out at a very young age that he wanted to pursue the arts and began creating amateur short skits and films. When it came time to head off to college, Courtland made the move to Chicago to pursue a BFA in directing at Columbia College. While at Columbia, Courtland realized that in order to become a better director he needed to expand his knowledge of film and thus switched out of the BFA program to the BA program to become more well-rounded. Since switching, Courtland has taken many more courses in screenwriting, and editing to help him better understand story and emotion specifically. He uses these skills on his projects which are currently in the short-film format. Eventually, Courtland hopes to have the opportunity to work on a feature and collaborate with different artists across the globe.

Artist Statement
"I began my career in filmmaking at age five when I learned how much I loved creating stories in my backyard for my personal enjoyment. My silly backyard stories were relatable and enjoyable for my age and how I was feeling at that time. Over the years, my stories have evolved past the limitations of my backyard and are realized through my passions of writing, directing, and editing. But one thing remains true from when I was five. The stories I make must be made by me with me in mind. Only by doing this am I able to create authentic material. I write with an emphasis on story structure, I direct with a sense of believability, and I edit with a focus on emotion. Ultimately, I want as many people as possible to enjoy my work in as many places as possible whether it’s at a festival, local theater, or the living room tv."
